The Lamp Lighting Ceremony at Surya College of Nursing is a significant and symbolic event that marks the formal entry of new students into the nursing profession. During the ceremony, students light lamps from a central flame, representing knowledge, compassion, and dedication to patient care. Inspired by the legacy of Florence Nightingale, known as the “Lady with the Lamp,” the event highlights the values of service, commitment, and humanity. Rajmata Jijau Jayanti was celebrated with great respect and enthusiasm at Surya College of Nursing. The program honored the birth anniversary of Rajmata Jijabai, the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and a symbol of courage, wisdom, and strong values.

The celebration included floral tributes to her portrait, speeches highlighting her role in shaping Shivaji Maharaj’s character, and cultural activities by students. Faculty members spoke about her contribution to Indian history and the importance of women’s empowerment and leadership. The event inspired students to follow the ideals of bravery, discipline, and dedication in their personal and professional lives.

The Fresher’s Party at Surya College of Nursing was celebrated with great excitement and joy to warmly welcome the new batch of students. The event was organized by senior students to make the freshers feel comfortable and part of the college family.

The program included welcome speeches, fun games, cultural performances, dance, music, and a talent show. Freshers introduced themselves and showcased their skills, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere. Titles such as “Mr. Fresher” and “Miss Fresher” were awarded to deserving students.

The party helped build bonding between seniors and juniors and created beautiful memories, marking the beginning of a new and memorable journey in nursing education.

 

Traditional Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm at the college to promote cultural values, unity in diversity, and respect for India’s rich heritage. On this special occasion, students and staff members dress in traditional attire representing different states and cultures of the country.

The celebration aims to encourage students to appreciate cultural diversity while strengthening bonds of friendship and harmony among peers. The campus comes alive with vibrant colors, traditional music, and joyful participation.

World AIDS Day is observed in our college on 1st December every year to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and to promote prevention, care, and support. On this occasion, students actively participate in awareness programs, poster presentations, health education sessions, and rallies to spread correct information about HIV transmission and prevention.

The celebration aims to remove stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS and to encourage compassion and social responsibility among future healthcare professionals. Through this program, students reaffirm their commitment to promoting health awareness and community well-being.

Community Posting is an important part of the nursing curriculum where students gain practical experience in rural and urban community settings. During this period, students conduct home visits, health assessments, surveys, and health education programs under the guidance of faculty members.

This exposure helps students understand community health needs and develop communication skills, leadership qualities, and a sense of social responsibility.
